Bathroom remodeling from the subfloor up
Water finds the framing under a bathroom first. We open the floor, repair what has rotted and build the new bath on sound wood.
What is under the old tile
Slow leaks around a toilet, tub or shower pan can soften the subfloor and joists for years before anything shows. When the old finishes come out, we inspect the framing and replace or sister what is damaged.
Waterproofing the new shower
A shower needs a membrane or pan that keeps water off the framing. We slope the floor to the drain, install the waterproofing and test it before tile goes on.
Fixtures and finishes
Then come the tile, vanity, fixtures, lighting and ventilation, set on a floor that will stay flat under a heavy tub or stone.
Bathroom Remodeling: questions
Only if the joists under it are sound. We check them when the floor is open.
Yes. Moving a toilet, shower or vanity is part of many remodels and needs a permit, which we handle.
By looking at the framing once the finishes are off, and checking from the crawlspace when the house has one.
